Testimonial about training a border terrier to stop running away.
We have a two and a half year old Border terrier called Lola. Lola flew through puppy training with flying colours and all was going well until Lola was about 8 months old.
Then her recalls was hit and miss. Her favourite game was deciding not to come back and have us chase her, totally ignoring all our commands and efforts to get her to come back It got to the stage of only letting her off the lead in a few safe places, which was really upsetting as I run with her and it was such a shame to have to keep her on the lead so much.
I tried a few different methods of training and trainers all to no avail.
I was just getting to the stage of thinking that we would have to accept that we would not be able to let Lola run as free as we wanted because we were so worried she may get hit by a car if she ran off.
I was then recommended Colin (Dog Intuition) and started with a few one to one sessions, which took us out on walks with Colin teaching me how to train Lola to respond when I said her name.
We also addressed difficult areas on walks where I had problems controlling her, rather than me avoiding them.
I then joined Colin’s adult dog class at Marshfield continuing to working with Lola, on and off lead in a group situation.
I am so thrilled to be able to say now that Lola’s recall is excellent and we are loving every minute with her, she is running off lead as much as we can safely do with her and having so much more fun I cannot recommend Colin highly enough! ‘
Thanks Colin for all your help
